This weeks blog is getting posted late because I was in Bloomington for the Indiana vs Indiana State game, the first game that I attended as an alumni!

There was a lot of terrible things going on in the world this week, the stabbing in NY, the Charlie Kirk assassination, and the school shooting in Colorado. All of this had me feeling a lot of negative feelings, to put it plainly. We live in such a violent and unforgiving world, and it is so easy to get lost in it all. What made it worse was people celebrating and making fun of Charlies death online, and down playing his death and saying that it was being talked about too much in comparison to the stabbing and school shooting. The way I see it, nobody should have to be in fear of getting killed on public transportation, at a public speaking event, or in a school where are learning. People should be safe in all of these spaces, no matter what your political views are! The only positive in all the negativity is that I have seen people coming together peacefully, praying together, and comforting each other.

If anything, I am grateful for where I am at now. I got my stitches out from my hip surgery on Wednesday and was able to go to an IU football game even though I am still in crutches. I was able to sit in the ada section, and the staff that was at the IU game provided great service when it came to helping me find the ada seats. I also got to watch my friends on the swim team go out on the football field to get recognized on their successful season last year and got to say hi to a couple of them!

Today I stood on both feet for the first time in almost a month! It felt really weird. I also walked for the first time! I did it with my brace on, but I was still mostly able. I am definitely not able to walk nearly as fast as I normally do, but it is a start! I still have to use my crutches and brace, but I was told in my post op appointment to ease off of them. It is like they say, you need to crawl before you walk.

This coming week, I am going to be going to the IU vs Illinois game, where it is going to be sold out most likely, and it will be a fun game to watch!

I hope you all have a blessed week!
